Evaluation of preliminary task
‘It’s good to talk’
As a group we produced a short documentary about mobile phones. We did not have much time to plan and research the task therefore was not produced to the best of our ability. The video below has strengths and weaknesses. However the mistakes in which we made are useful as they will help when creating our documentaries as we will have learnt from our mistakes.
The negatives about our video is that the cut always we filmed were relevant however when we had finished editing were not relevant to what the person was saying at that particular time. Therefore this meant the cut aways and the images which appeared on screen did not make sense. The music also was not carefully planned therefore was irrelevant to the topic. In future careful planning will ensure that the music is carefully chosen so that it is relevant. The video was also very short and did not look professional.
One of the strengths of our video is the team work. We each put forward our ideas and communicated well with each other. We also followed the codes and conventions of an interview in a documentary as the mise en scene was relevant and related to what the interviewee was saying. Although again this did not look professional. The framing of the interview was correct as the eye line was a third of the way down the face and the interviewee was sat the left of the screen.
During my production work I will take on board the mistakes made and use them in order to help create the best production work I can. This task will also help as hopefully I will be able to see how much I have improved from this task to the final production work.
